Fall Foliage Train Rides

A few years ago I took my kids on the fall foliage train ride tour in Oil City and while it was very interesting and fun it wasn't what I had in mind when I set out looking for a scenic excursion for us.

Supposedly there is/are fall foliage excursions on different old railways here in Pa that have all day rides (some with a dinner or lunch served) that are available in September and October but I'm not having any luck finding them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I thought I had found one in the Lehigh River Gorge but then I read that they were only 45 minute rides??

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thank you sir. I have that one on my list and just may do the Sunset Dinner. I was hoping more for an all day long ride thru the mountains but I'm not seeing anything like that.

There are some other excursions in Cumberland MD and West Virginia also so I'm still looking.

Trips from Bellefonte, PA. The longer trip to Tyrone may suit you. It runs along Spring Creek to Milesburg, then through the Bald Eagle Valley to Tyrone. At Tyrone there's a 1 hour layover where there are restaurants nearby. And you can watch trains running on the mainline. Then back to Bellefonte. There are restaurants in Bellefonte, also.

Thanks Troutbert. That first link you posted is good but there aren't a whole lot of days to choose from and I'd be driving 3.5 hours to get to the station. The Bellefonte one may work but I'd be driving from Tyrone to get to Bellefonte and they are only running those trips for a few days.

Wellsboro is looking the best at this point but I'll keep looking for now.

That one that goes up along the Potomac where you see all the eagles is supposed to be excellent. I am planning on that one myself.

My wife was telling me there is one in Jim Thorpe, PA-Poconos area that might be the one you saw already.

The western Maryland one is supposed to be good
