Scouts

I was wondering how many have been involved in Boy or Girl Scouts or have kids in Boy or Girl Scouts ? I believe it has set a lot of us in the right direction. Any thoughts?

Re: Scouts

I earned Eagle when was in Boy Scouts. I was never in cubs but I was the den leader for 4 years for my son's age group. Now he's in Boy Scouts and I'm an assistant scout Master. I've kept my Eagle rank on the resume since college. It's interesting how many times that has been a serious topic in job interviews.

Re: Scouts

Ok you got me scratchin my head, "censored" scoutmaster? Are you trying to bump your post count?

To the original poster,I was cubscout boyscout, made Eagle and eventually a young scoutmaster. Sad to say the parent involvement was lacking and troop folded. I enjoyed the times and experiences. Definitely shaped my early life and gained some life skills I still use. Camp co-owner was never a scout, his 15yr old is now sr. patrol leader and he is scoutmaster. He is having a good experience. His wife and daughter are involved in girl scouts and wife is active in the boy scouts as well.

Oh Ron, 'assistant' scoutmaster abbreviated don't pass muster

Re: Scouts

I was a Cub Scout and then a Boy Scout. My son followed the same path but the Boy Scout group he joined was something else. I literally could not afford the things they were involved in; snorkeling trips to Florida for example. Also, at one of the weekly meetings the Scout Master and his assistant actually got into a fist fight. He joined another trupe and stayed with them for quite some time. The new trupe was involved in woods skills, local history, community involvement and personal growth of the individual scout. None of the extravagant stuff.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......
