POTD 7/22/2015

This is too cool to be left off POTD. Real photo. Taken this week in Central PA. 4 fawns.

That is a cool pic. Never saw 4 fawns before.

Had a doe on a farm I hunt that produced triplets several years in a row. Twice, all three fawns were button bucks. I knew it was the same doe because she was missing a front leg. Always gave her a free pass when I saw her.

Nothing wrong with giving a critter a free pass, especially one that consistently produces a valuable commodity.

Re: POTD 7/22/2015

I was thinking about this picture while I was cutting the grass. Obviously I don't know where it was taken. But after the winter we had, for a doe to have 4 fawns that attained enough weight to survive is incredible to me. Once again the deer prove to me they are more hardy and capable of surviving than I sometimes give them credit for.

Taken in 2E, we had a good hard winter. I am still having a hard time believing it too. But I know the picture isn't a fake. I'm wondering is Momma adopted a pair due to a mortality, or maybe was just baby-sitting for awhile. They're awfully young for the baby-sitting idea though.

The doe I shot last year on the last day of rifle had triplets. She was an absolute cow. The other doe with her had twins and was almost as big.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.
