Re: Planes Trains and Automobiles

i was flying into anchorage a couple years ago and the pilot had to fly past the runway, out over the ocean, then turn back to land. when he turned that bird back, he turned it almost on it's side and i swore the wing tip was going to touch water. scared some of us bad enough that we actually said some bad words out loud and stuff rolled into the center isle. the stewardesses were even chatting about it amoung themselves and shaking their heads. i know i'm not a good judge of such things, but i really thought we were going down.

Re: Planes Trains and Automobiles

On the way home from Saratoga Springs in the winter I Got off the NY Thruway to get on 84 and the overpass was black ice. came out of the cloverleaf and as I sped up to get on 84 the car did a 1 1/2 turn in the middle of the road on the overpass. Seemed like slo mo to me. Lucky it was like 6 am and almost no traffic. Now I'm sitting there facing the wrong way , jumped out and believe it or not I could push the car on the ice most of the way around then got in and drove to the shoulder and caught my breath. That was one heck of a spin 50-60 feet high overpass. Was a bad trip home and slow. by the time I got close to Port Jarvis the roads iced up and all traffic sat on 84 for 2-3 hours before it warmed up enough to melt the ice. A normally 5 hr ride took 11-12 to get home because of the ice and rain freezing.

Re: Planes Trains and Automobiles

That reminds me, I did a spin on the NE Extension in a snowstorm, bounced off the guardrail and was facing north. Problem was, I was in the southbound lane.

About a dozen cars went by me in the right hand lane while I just sat there watching them look at me as they went past. After they passed I was able to make a u turn and go south with the rest of the crowd. Whew!
