Hunting with a Winchester 9410

Just purchased a Winchester 9410 and sighted in with the winny slugs at 25 yrds. Has anybody hunted with the set-up before? I am limiting myself to 30 yd. shots. I am planning on taking broadside shots thru the lungs only, and was wondering if anybody else hunted with the .410 slugs for deer?

Not legal in sras, but would be interesting in the right hands.

I wonder if they are more effective with a pumpkin ball set up???? Like the one they shoot thru the judge pistol.

Re: Hunting with a Winchester 9410

My grandmother used one, but I remember a lost deer once.

FWIW - http://mcb-homis.com/deer9410/

Appears to be around a 357 in power overall, if you can get accuracy and a slug that'll penetrate.

410 slugs work great! It's like shooting a 30/30.

I see said the Blind Carpenter to his Deaf Helper as he picked up his Hammer and Saw!

Re: Hunting with a Winchester 9410

I would compare it more to a 32-20. 100 grain slug at 1800 fps sounds like very limited range. 357 is way more powerful. It makes a 30-30 look like a Magnum.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

Maybe its an old reg that shotguns in the SRA had to be 20 gauge ( no matter the projectile )

None the less, thanks for the correction.
