Re: Anybody else Hunting with the Handguns??

I'm not but a buddy of mine shot a bear with one, 200 lbs., a week ago Monday and a doe last Saturday.
Single shot Contender .41 ca.? I think.

I use a T/C Contender most of the time. Either a 7-30 Waters, 44 mag, 357 mag or 7 TCU. barrel. Occasionally use a Redhawk or my GP 100 but mostly the T/C. Haven't rifle hunted for deer in years.

Been working my confidence and distance up over the last two years, 6.5 in M629 open sights. Might try this Friday, but still no deer in freezer yet! ....so rifle might still be goin! Starting to look like a long flintlock season for me and boys!

I occasionally use my Dan Wesson VH10 .44 mag 10 inch barrel open sights. She is very good up to 50 yards. That's plenty as that's the farthest I shoot. I use Winchester 240 gr soft points, white box deer and bear.

Re: Anybody else Hunting with the Handguns??

I like my New Black Hawk Hunter in .44. I have a 2x8 Simmons mounted one it. Groups well at 100 yards with 240 jhp from Nosler. Took a doe at 35 yards with it last year. I might drag it out this Saturday.

Re: Anybody else Hunting with the Handguns??

We had a handgun only doe hunt at our camp this year. I used my ruger redhawk 44mag. Others used S&W 357mag, S&W 500 and Ruger super redhawk.
