175$ spr 210 12 gauge a good deal?

I'm posting this for my father, he has a chance to get a rem spr 210 sxs 12 gauge, the seller told him he didn't shoot more than than three or four boxes of shells out of it , he said at one time the second barrel wouldn't fire then at times the first wouldn't fire. He took it out and shot it they both went off the first time but he said they never automatically switched to the second barrel he always had to do it manually. What your guys input on the gun? Could it be filings in the receiver or something more serious deeming the gun junk? Help me out please? Input anyone?

The lower end SXS and O/U are known for this. Inconsistent machining, etc. I take it this is a single trigger and you have to move the safety to fire each barrel? If so, I'd say its probably more severe than filings. I'd pass on it personally.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Yes single trigger, should they not automatically reset so you can shoot right away? Two quick shots?

I have one, and aside from what you describe they are a toad of a gun. If he really wants a low end SxS then tell him to get a Stoeger. The "bells and whistles" on the Spartan are a joke.

If it had that problem to boot I'd run as fast as I can.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

Yes they should. The problem with this one seems it doesn't. That is most likely more serious than some loose filings. If it were me, I'd pass on it for $1.75 let alone $175.00
