Any Win. Model 12 Fans Or Owners?

I recently aquired a very nice 1959 vintage Winchester Model 12 "Field Grade" 12 ga. It has a 28" modified barrel and is all original with no modifications. The wood and metal are 95%+. The action is silky SMOOTH and the bore is so shiny it's almost blinding. LOL What a piece of history. I can't wait to hunt with her. Any Model 12 fans out there? Any opinions about what has been called "The perfect repeater"?

i have my grandfathers nickel steel model 1912, which is what it was called up until 1918 or so. mine was made in 1918 and is a 12 gauge 28" modified. it is battle scarred and has very little blue left. i have had it for about 37 years and it has functioned flawlessly for squirrel, turkey, rabbits and doves. over the years i have "upgraded" to mossberg 500 3" and then a 870 3.5". i keep going back to the model 12. it shoots the 2 3/4" superx #6 turkey loads tight enough for turkey out to about 30 yards.

the model 12 is a classic.

Sounds like you found a gem of a gun. I'm still looking for a well preserved 20 Gauge Model 12. Good luck with your purchase, happy hunting.

I have a trap and a field grade 12 ga. I just passed on a VG 20 ga. I wanted it but the guy wanted $800 and I didn't have the $.

There is something special about them.

What a gun! My dad had the same gun with a 30" full. I graduated to that first after the old single shot 20 we had. Shot a lot of pheasants with it back in the day when Chester County had plenty.

Great gun. I've hunted with a 16 Gauge Model 12 for many many years now. Light and fast handling shotgun...

I hunted Chester County years ago as a teen. ALOT of pheasants then and they were all WILD, not stocked. Now they are all gone. What a shame.

I have a model 12 in 16ga I picked up a few years ago. It has a Mod. choke and a 2.5 inch chamber. I take it out at least once a year and have taken many pheasants with it

I passed on one a few years back at an home auction. It was the nicest, M-12 20ga.that I've seen. Still kicking myself for not buying it.

I have had a slight hoarding problem with Model 12's for over 30 years. Have yet to own a 28ga, but I will before I check out.
