painting your entire gun (wood stock)

Anyone ever paint their entire gun if it is a wood stock. I have an original 870 and wont to make it camo. Its a beatuiful gun, but the barrel gets awefully shiny in the sunlight, any thing i can do. The gun was a gift, so i don't want to ruin it but don't want to spook a bird because of the shine.

Buy a cammo wrap for the barrel.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: painting your entire gun (wood stock)

If it has nice wood buy a replacement camo stock and then use the camo wrap for the barrel. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to just buy a used 835 and make it a dedicated turkey gun. They come pretty reasonable if you keep your eyes open at gun stores.

I have used Bowflage in the past. It held up well and was not hard to take off many years later. I don't even know if they make it anymore.

Here is my Stoeger Uplander with the Equine wrap they sell at TSC for $8.

You get four rolls in a pack. I used two for the s/s. It lasts all season for me. Not a bad job IMHO for a $4 camo investment. And two more rolls left for whatever you need to wrap. Leaves NO residue on the stock or barrel. Only adheres to itself.
