Failed background check

A few weeks ago a guy where I work at said he tried to buy a shotgun and was denied. He said he had no idea why. So he enquired about it and got a letter back in the mail today. The letter said it was for a DUI he received in 2007. He was pulled over for not using a turn signal and ended up with the DUI. The letter states something about he is being denied not for what he was charged with but what he could of been charged with,, weird. So other then him having his girlfriend buy a shotgun does he have any recourse. He said I could use his name but theres no reason I need to put his name on here ..

Thanks guys when I go back to work Wednesday i'll relay your thoughts

Re: Failed background check

Sounds like something he should talk to a lawyer about.

The problem is that I don't know what I don't know.

Re: Failed background check

I'll answer instead of just taking shots at your OP. There is always recourse. That's what lawyers are for. Doesn't make sense to me denying on what he COULD have been charged with. If they didn't charge then it's not on record. Either something not right there or he gave you incomplete info. If he's denied here, he will be again though, so unless he's ok not buying anymore guns, I would pursue this further starting with a phone call to whoever sent that letter.

Girlfriend buying shotgun for him strikes me as a straw deal.

They are just looking for bigger problems if she does that.

THIS............again, the 2nd amendment was NEVER meant to be interpreted as a right "unless you do _________". We have been losing rights since the early 60's and obviously we have some sticky fingers in the cookie jar again. No excuse for that to keep him from purchasing.
