Re: Failed background check
back on the original topic...as much as i hate to admit it i got a dui a few years back, yes it was wrong but i paid my dues for it. I went through the whole after dui gun ordeal...and in no way does one dui prevent you from owning a gun but if you are on probation (a.r.d or otherwise) you technically are not allowed to possess any firearms in your home for the duration of the probation...long story short about a month after my probation was up i went to purchase a new rifle and was denied, not delayed. I panicked thinking i would never be able to purchase another gun because of this dui and began researching into it...a few weeks later i spoke with the pa state police firearms unit and they were actually very helpful and said i should be fine to make a firearm purchase and to just go try again (which a was afraid to do in fear of being in some kind of trouble for attempting to purchase a firearm) so i went and bought a new pistol with no problems at all. Ive bought 8 or so guns at dealers since then and they usually get sent to an operator but the transfer always goes through...all i can think for the reaon of the first denial was the paperwork wasnt all the way through with the info that all dui related fines and probation was done and over with.
