Mossberg 500 question

I have recently obtained a mossberg 500 with a ported turkey barrel with an x-full choke. Due to the cost of ammo I was wondering if anyone else has the same combination and what ammo they are using that works best for them for turkey with this combo. It would be a help to try and narrow the field down some to find a load that my gun likes.

Re: Mossberg 500 question

Try the Federal Turkey Thug ammo in 5's or 6's if you can still find any. It's the same thing as the older Strut Shok ammo and guys are having fantastic results with it. Either that or the Winchester Supreme or Double XX loads in the same sizes. Either one would be my ammo of choice to start with. As far as chokes, try the factory tube and if you can't get a decent pattern with it, look at the HS Precision Undertaker or Primos Jelly head tubes. Both are priced right and won't kill your wallet. If you can afford it, Hevi Shot in 6's or 7's will flat out pattern way better than any lead load, but you'll pay for that performance! Good luck
