Pleased with Savage 220

Picked up a new Savage 220 @ Cabelas last Friday. Put a little 2x7 Leupold on it and shot it this morning. Lasered it at 50 yards then moved right to 100.

The gun seemed to take about 6 shots to settle in but another couple shots and I was where I wanted to be with the Remington 2 3/4" Accu-Tip ammo. Last 6 shots cut one sub 3" group at 100 yards. The trigger is sweet, better than any of my rifles.

Re: Pleased with Savage 220

I purchased mine last year. I just shot it today to make sure its still on.

Mine also shoots the best groups with the 2 3/4" Accu-Tip but the 3" Federal with the Barnes bullets are a close second.

They only downside is the cost of ammo.

I LOVE my 220 I shoot the 3" Federal Barnes that clover leaf at 100yds off of a rest. Accutips came in a close second.

Guys

A friend told me that Dick's had Accu-Tips on sale. I stopped by today to check it out.

It is a rebate not a sale but a good deal. They are $13.00 a box but send in the rebate and you get $5.00 a box back. It is limited to four boxes and $20.00.

I wish the local DICKS store here in 2b would carry 20ga. in 3inch. Do you know if the rebate is through remington or DICKS? Thanks!

It is through Remington. They have info on their website BUT the info on the website says it is limited to $5.00. The rebate certificate I got at Dick's is for up to $20.00. I picked up 4 boxes and sent the rebate in. It is a good deal.

Re: Pleased with Savage 220

I love my 220 and I picked up every box of 2-3/4 accutips dicks had when they had a buy 3 get one free deal on all ammo. You just have to watch for good sales that was a heck of a deal on that ammo and the 220 loves it!

Re: Pleased with Savage 220

Just shot my 220 for the first time today. Got it from Dick's it's camo. Needed to see where it was at at 25 yds, first three shots upper right about 6 inches off the x. Moved the scope Nikon 3x9 slughunter BDC and still at the same location on the next two shots. I do have a group... Using horniday SSTs (sp). Will get this resolved on a bench tomorrow.

The Remington rebate on the Acu-Tips is good until the end of the year.
