Slug Gun suggestions?

I am looking to purchase a slug gun. I think that I have it down to two potential guns. I am a southpaw.

H&R Ultra Slug

Savage 220 left handed bolt

Any opinions of my choices?

Any others that I should be looking at?

I always had a 12 guage and went to the savage 220 , and it's fantastic and can kill deer to 200 yards with the right slugs. I don't miss the recoil of the 12 guage either!!!

Both gun's are great gun's... Alot of people praise the Savage in 20 gauge. I hunt three state's that are shotgun. I see more and more 20 gauges each year. Myself I carry an 870 in 12 gauge.

P.S. The Savage in stainless is very nice..

Re: Slug Gun suggestions?

I have a H&R Ultra in 20ga W/1x4 leupold and its a tack driver w/ 3" fed premuim sabots.Made 110 yd shot off hand on a 9pt one season.Awsome gun,I like the single shot challenge.Have shot the 12 ga ultra and it kicks like a mule.20ga is plenty enough for whitetail. But its a heavy gun to carry all day,if your just stand hunting its not bad.Shot many whitetail with this gun and dropped them all in their tracks. If you go with the ultra make sure you get good mounts & scope because of shock being mounted right over the chamber. Good luck, hope this helps.

Re: Slug Gun suggestions?

I did purcahse a used 12 gauge stainless barrel for my Pro Hunter.. Looking forward to using it this year for deer season..I have all kinds of slugs and sabots to see which one will group the best. I have one of the Cabelas BDC slug scopes on the barrel too...All I need now is to get out to the range...

I have the 220 and it is amazingly accurate. Can't beat the price for the groups this gun spits out!
