Shotgun scope mount

Considering a Mossberg 500 or Rem 870 slug gun, would a cantilever scope mount (Mossbergs are integral scope mount) or the scope mounted on top of the receiver be better? is there that big of a difference between the two? guess that with a cantilever mount, you could change barrels and should only have to shot a shell or 2 to make sure that scope is still on.

You can't bag a big one if your not out tryin

Re: Shotgun scope mount

cantilever is always better. it mounts the scope with the barrel so they dont move from one another. i change my barrels all the time on my slug guns, and have NEVER had to shoot a shell through to make sure it was still on. unless you drop, or bump it, the scope will still be in the exact same spot on the barrel.

Re: Shotgun scope mount

I have an 870 with a cantilever and have never had an issue with it. I'd go with the Remington 870 my self.
