Any info on this vintage gun cleaning kit?

I was just given this vintage Outers Gunslick Shotgun Kit for a 16 gauge shotgun. The case is in great shape, just a little dirty. I don't want to clean it up incase it would damage the paint or something. I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened it up, it looks like it's right off the shelf. Anyone have info on these? I have no idea if they are collectable or not, although seeing the condition, I'm thinking it is somewhat.. Below are a couple pictures...

Mine in 12 ga is over 40 years old, maybe even close to 50. Used it for many years and then 2 years ago I broke the rod. Still have the case.

They still make them, only they have plastic boxes.

i agree thats from the late-50's to mid 60's. i have one from early 70's and they were plastic by then. neat old kit. i'd put it up on the shelf in the man cave with some vintage shell boxes.

Thanks for the info.. I don't really have any intentions on getting rid of it, just curious about it more than anything.. It looked like nothing had ever been used at all which really surprised me

I just inherited one of those from an Uncle who passed recently. It is for a .22, but it looks identical. It is in great shape as well - nothing has been touched.

I have one for 20 gauge, one for 16 gauge, one for 12 gauge, one for .22 rimfire and prob 2 or three others that got scattered around the basement when i was a kid. (I did the scattering. One thing I just love about those old kits is how they smell. Just smell like shooting history. Maybe a little weird, but I find a lot of memories are smell oriented for me.

The reason some were never used is because they were repetitive gifts. I know because I have 25 of them, 12 pairs of cheap binoculars, 150 flannel shirts, etc. Once your tagged as an outdoorsman, you keep getting the same gifts year after year. I just chuckle and throw them on the pile. Thats a nice one, good for you !
