S&W Model 586??

My BIL is in the market for a decent revolver in the 38/357 4"bbl. Was thinkin a 586 would be a good one. Anyone know what the S&W 586's normally go for new? I see they are listed at $800 retail.

Re: S&W Model 586??

i bought a 6" 586 in '82 right after they came out. it is by far the most accurate pistol i have ever shot. i put a set of pachmeyer grips on it and it fits my hand like a glove. i highly recommend them. not sure about the price of new ones but if i was looking for another, i'd look for any older used one on gunbroker. you should be about to get into a nice one for around $5-600.

Re: S&W Model 586??

Don't let him spend $800 on the new 586, have him spend $450-$500 for an older 586 or 686. Save some money, get a better built gun, and loose the stupid internal lock on the side!

Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.
