What .44mag ammo?

Looking for a factory load for deer for a S&W 629. Is 240gr JHP an effective load? I'm seeing huge price differences between the manufacturers like American Eagle, Hornady, Remington, Blazer, Federal, etc. What brand of ammo do you guys use, and why?

You just shot an unarmed man. Well he should have armed himself!!! Clint Eastwood.

Re: What .44mag ammo?

If I was hunting deer with my 44, I would buy a premium ammo, 240 grain or larger. A good quality expanding bullet. I would not hunt with any of the lower end ammo ( Blazer, Am. Eagle)etc. Yes, that stuff will kill a whitetail. Any bullet through both lungs will kill a deer, but you have an ethical responsibility in my opinion to use the best stuff you can afford. There are several premium 300 gr loads made for hunting that will flat out drop a deer with the correct shot placement.

Re: What .44mag ammo?

I use the Hornady 300 grain XTP bullet. 4 shots and 4 deer, although the deer were so close I could of hit them over the head with my Ruger super redhawk. None took a step.

Keep Americans working!
Buy made in USA!!!!

If you shoot often you might want to think about getting into handloading.
