Deer handgun hunting during Archery?

How about giving handgun hunters the opportunity to take a deer during Archery? Maybe this could be opened up to handgun hunters during the early muzzleloader week in Oct.

How about we have enough special weapons seasons. Use your handgun during the regular deer season. That is what I and many others do. Enough already.

Does anyone make inline muzzleloader handguns?

There use to be. I know Traditions and T/C made single shot caplocks at one time.T/C was the Scout. Heavey duty for hunting. Of course there are still traditional single shot muzzleloader pistols.

Sorry John S, didn't mean to upset you. Stop being so uptight about everything that gets posted on this website. This site is here for discussion of the pros and cons of issues and ideas.

What's so wrong with a little extra opportunity for the handgun crowd? To me the challenge of shooting a deer with a handgun equates more to the challenge of shooting a deer with archery equipment than it does with shooting a deer with a rifle. So why not have an opportunity to hunt with a handgun during the early and/or late archery season?

What are the reasons this added opportunity could not work? I don't believe there are that many handgun hunters out there. So it's not like thousands more deer will be harvested.

Re: Deer handgun hunting during Archery?

What wrong with you picking up a bow if you want more opportunity?

Or a flintlock pistol?

Or just capitalizing on the opportunity to carry during rifle season? You do know that it is legal to use a revolver during rifle season.

Why does everyone want there own special season anymore? Instead of taking advantage of the opportunities afforded, we think its unfair that we don't get our own special opportunity just for ourselves. Play or don't play, but don't try to change the game for yourself.

There may not be many handgun hunters, but if you make a season there will be. Not to mention a handgun, while limited in range, is an advantage over even todays compounds that are so simple a caveman could do it. Not to mention the extended range of a 44 mag vs bow.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

I'm not going to support anymore "special" seasons until I can take out my Atlatl !

I want an atlatl forum of my own too!

I'd like to see the early muzzleloader season gone.
