I'm sure you have handled them before Ken. To me,their like a small scale Model 12,and alot of fun to shoot/hunt with. Mines been reblued and its pretty rough, but I paid around $300 for it over 30 years ago. An honest field grade can sometimes be had under $1000. I would like a better one, but have a hard time paying the prices they command.

They are a joy to use and to own. With a little diligent shopping they can be had for less than Gunbroker prices. Guns with a factory Cutts compensator are worth a premium. You know you want one, go find her !

You can get the remake that browning did a few years ago for alot less than an original. They are $800 to $1000.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

Re: Winchester Model 42....410 pump

i got my first squirrels with my grandads in '73. i really like them. he had a model 12 12 gauge and a model 42 410. when he died i got the model 12 and my cousin got the 42. i want one but but the prices are out of my range. guy had one a couple weeks ago at a gunshow. it was a really nice 63 model and he wanted $1500. i don't care about getting a nice one, i just want a hunting gun. even a beat up one goes for $1000 most times. i hope to luck into one one of these days.

Re: Winchester Model 42....410 pump

I shot a lot of my game as a kid with a 410. Mine was a single shot handed down from by great grandfather. Unfortunately I did not have the luxury of weapon as nice as the 42.

My old 410 has need a repair for a long time and I probably will never hunt with it again. However, I do plan to look into the repairs.

Love mine. Once belonged to my great grandfather who I am named after. Had a guy offer me $1800 for it sight unseen. Not a chance this one is ever going to be sold.

Like wise.. I have my Father's a rare Skeet Grade not to be ever sold while I'm alive then it'll passed on to my Son, then Grandson.
