New vaquero

I'm thinking of picking up a Ruger New Vaquero in 357.
I know they've slimmed them down a tad from the original Vaquero. Reading reviews online, it seems everyone loves them. Just looking for a little insight from anyone with experience with them.

thanks

Re: New vaquero

The new model vaqueros are not as strong as the old model. You cannot shoot high owered loads like Buffalo bore and some others.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: New vaquero

The strength of the New Vaquero doesn't apply to the 357. Definately the 45 Colt though.

Buffalo Bore claims their 357 ammo is safe in all steel 357's.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

One of my bigger concerns that's keeping me on the fence is the internal lock. Anybody aware of any issues with that?

If it's not for self defense, I wouldn't be concerned about the lock.

Nope, not really looking at one for a primary self defense handgun (I prefer the glocks I have for that)- just looking to pick one up because I kinda dig single action revolvers. However, I may use it for self defense purposes from time to tome walking my property, hence the concern about the lock.

Thank you, I've sent him an email to see if I can pick his brain a bit.
