Shotgun for deer

I have a 12ga pump shotgun with a fixed modified choke in it, can I use that to hunt deer? Or do you need a special choke to shoot the slugs?

thanks

Re: Shotgun for deer

you can shoot ribbed, non-sabot slugs through any choke just fine.

Life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

You can shoot the foster style slugs as others have suggested, but using a barrel with sights is highly recommended.
