No, contact your local sheriff for the paperwork..You will get a background check and possibly fingerprinted..A fee is also involved..

Re: ? About hand gun permit

This is from the Columbia Co. Sherrif's Office website:

Pennsylvania law requires the Sheriff of Columbia County to process all applications for a license to carry firearms.

Licenses are issued to all those who qualify, based on a background investigation done by the Sheriffs Office through the Pennsylvania Instant Check system (PIC). Once an application for license to carry is filed, the Sheriff has 45 days in which to do the investigation and notify the applicant. The license is valid for 5 years. The Sheriff has the ability to revoke the license at anytime for misuse.

All applicants are required to have a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License or ID and must pay a fee of $20.00 (cash, money order or check) at the time the application is submitted.

The criteria should be the same statewide. In Col Co the issuing time is usually less than 1 week.

Re: ? About hand gun permit

Fingerprinting, which I believe Philly requires is an ILLEGAL requirement in order to obtain a LTCF.

However, anyone that requires fingerprinting will get away with it until someone takes them to court.

Same as requiring the references to be from the same county or even residents of PA. There is no such requirement, although some sheriff's offices will tell you different.

Re: ? About hand gun permit

I know Montgomery co makes you get finger printed as well as take a paper to your local police to fill out & mail back first. Once that is done it takes about 10 minutes & renewals take about 10 minutes.

Re: ? About hand gun permit

The requirements for obtaining a LTCF are set by law. Fingerprinting is NOT spelled out in the requirements, and is an illegal requirement by the agency telling you that it needs to be done.

Of course if you try and say something, they'll refuse to process your LTCF. You must then hire a lawyer and take them to court.

Also, the sheriffs department is supposed to run you through the background check, not the local police. Again, you must suck it up.......or decide to fight it.
