Rock Island Armory 45 acp

Being that this is the 100th Anniversary of the 1911 Pistol, I decided to make a purchase recently. I have read a considerable number of reviews on many different manufacturers and decided on a very economical, but well built model from Rock Island Armory. I picked up the gun this morning, gave it a good cleaning and then went to the range. I'm very pleased with it. It shot well and performed flawlessly. It's my first pistol of this style and I think I will really enjoy shooting it more! It's the full sized Tactical model.

I have also been looking at RIAs mostly on GunBroker. Where did you get it? What style holster and are you planning on using this as a concealed carry?

Smiley...I bought it from a local gunshop in the Bloomsburg area (good prices)..It's pretty large for concealed carry but will most likely ride along with me in the Jeep. They also make a mid-sized Commander style and a compact Officer style that would lend itself more toward carrying.

Get a horizontal shoulder holster and no one will know you are wearing it under your jacket, or an inside the pant holster. I carry my full size 1911 with no problem.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

I shot it for the 2nd time, another 50 rounds, another great performance. It's a lot of fun to shoot and quite accurate! Let me know how yours works out, Scruff.
