Anyone ever hear of Krieghoff shotguns/rifles?

For 5 years I've driven to work down Route 611 thru Ottsville (5C) and have passed by a very plain, non-descript groups of buildings with a sign reading "Krieghoff" in front of them. Until yesterday I never knew they were one of the most prestigious gun manufacurers IN THE WORLD. Has anyone else ever heard of them? Checkout their website. http://www.krieghoff.com.
They don't give tours but I was lucky enough to meet and speak with one of thier master gunsmiths who agreed to re-do the stocks on a 99 Savage I recently came into.

This is the first time I ever heard of anyone involved in the shooting sports that hasn't heard of them. Seriously.

Krieghoff is the premier brand of firearm in Europe. They make some of the finest guns in the world, period. Their trap guns make up perhaps 75% of serious competitive shooters weapons. They are ungodly expensive, but they are the best money can buy. They have franchises across the globe, like the one you visited.

Oh I know that, I sure can't affor one, however not being able to afford one and not ever hearing of the brand name are two different things. I wasn't flaming the guy, I was just surprised he had never heard of the maker.

Hey John, I saw a Krieghoff several years ago at a trap shoot in Chester County. The owner was trying to sell it. I was a fantastic looking piece, but the price was an outrage. I mean he wanted so much money that it was unreal. I am sure the gun was worth what he wanted, but..........

They don't give them away for sure.

Re: Anyone ever hear of Krieghoff shotguns/rifles?

Checked out their website. Suspiciously no prices were listed for any of the pieces, at least I couldn't find pricing. Maybe they're like Lobster... prices are seasonal... must ask.

By the way, their double rifle is a real beaut of a piece EXCEPT for the sling mounts. Why in the world would you put sling mounts on such a beautiful gun ???

Re: Anyone ever hear of Krieghoff shotguns/rifles?

It is a European thing, the Germans and Swiss put swivels on their shotguns as well. If I was using a double rifle for dangerous game, I wouldn't want it on a sling on my shoulder and I would worry the sling could get caught in brush when I needed it the most.
