Reloading Sabot Slugs?

I am interested in reloading rifle slugs. Do any of u guys reload you own? I only know of the one company that sells components, and I think they are lightfield slugs. I was wondering if u could buy the components to reload some of the copper jacketed slugs like remington copper solid ect. Thanks in advance, Jim Reilly

Re: Reloading Sabot Slugs?

Hi mfwing.I did try the lyman slugs once with the aa hulls. They were ok for 50 yd shots. They were not very flat shooting. The point of impact at 50 yds was probly about 8" or so different than at 100. I sighted in for 100 and did have a shot at a 1/2 rack buck. I wasnt sure how far he was so I just held the crosshairs behind his shoulder. I hit him in the spine. When I paced off the distance, he was about 63 yds. I switched to the lightfields, and they shot a little flatter, only about a 3" difference. I want to try to find a load that shoots similar to that. Thanks for your reply. By the way, I still have some of those lyman loads, if u want to try them.

Re: Reloading Sabot Slugs?

http://www.slugsrus.com sells sabots and lead slugs used in the Hastings laser accurate slugs. (long story)...

give him a call and he'll tell you the background...make sure you have a free half hour and a headset for your phone.

he sells the roll crimp tool too...i'm probably going to belly up for it this summer when some cash gets freed up.

In addition to http://www.slugsrus.com, there are some good threads in the SLUG SHOOTERS section of ShotgunWorld on this subject. They can be found at this link:

The site has components for loading different slugs too.
