BFR 475 Linebaugh

Wondering if any one has one of these revolvers or know some one who does?
Ever shoot it?
Would you recommend it?
Or know of one for sale?

Re: BFR 475 Linebaugh

I have a short-barreled Freedom Arms .475...the .475 is an advanced hangunner's cartridge...recoil is brutal with full-powered heavy bullet loads....the Casull is a pussycat compared to the .475, IMO....

The S&W platform for the big rounds is a better option. The .500s I've shot were far more comfortable to shoot than my 4 3/4" Freedom Arms .475...

Unless you are going to do a lot of shooting I would look at the Casull...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you shoot 480 Ruger also.

Re: BFR 475 Linebaugh

Sure can use .480s... You can also download the .475 which makes more sense than using shorter cases like the .480 in a .475 length cylinder...

My reply was directed at pointing out the difficulty in handling full power .475 loads...something which has to be experienced to be appreciated....

Mild .475 loads are plenty powerful on their own!

Re: BFR 475 Linebaugh

I could only imagine what a full power 475 would be like. I didn't care for full power 454 casull loads in a ruger SRH. Wasn't any fun at all.

Yep, a 425 gr. bullet @ 1300, or so, in a short barrel revolver ain't a lot of fun to work with...I use PAST gloves and have to really pay attention to avoid disasters when shooting the heavy thumpers....
