marlin 512 slugmaster

was at my local gun store and found a minty Marlin 512 topped with Redfield 2x7 illuminator scope. the gun and scope was listed for 500.00.

I picked it up for 450.00 and the gun is very clean. Anyone ever hunt with this model of slug gun? The blueing is strong and wood is clean? What is the barrel twist rate?

Thanks Koz

will hunt for food....

Re: marlin 512 slugmaster

I've been hunting with one since they first came out. Very accurate and a decent trigger. BRI slugs were suggested (no longer available). Thank goodness I bought a lot of them when they were cheap and still in production. I don't know the rate of twist, but I don't see how that's an issue.

Very accurate but also very heavy.
Bought a new one but couldn't handle the recoil.

Re: marlin 512 slugmaster

The weight of the gun makes the recoil very manageable for me.
