Any 10ga shooters out there?

I was thinking about getting a 10 ga for the longest time. Never shot one, but they seem interesting. I just saw a new Browning BPS for sale and it got me thinking again. Was thinking about the BPS or the Browning Gold in 10 ga. Anyone have experience with these? Is there any significant difference between a 12 ga 3 1/2 in mag and a 10 ga? In terms of knock down power, range, and pattern?

BPS..will knock your teeth loose..
Gold Auto not so bad at all.
The auto has a higher resale value and is easier on the shooter. The BPS costs less.

I have the browning gold in 10ga.use it for ducks and geese, recoil is nothing. The 10 really shines shooting BB,#2's at 40 yards plus.I also have a single shot 10ga that i use for turkey hunting. The thing is a beast and has never let me down,However recoil will put a serious hurt on you

Re: Any 10ga shooters out there?

You didn't say what you planned on using it for. I have a double 10 that weighs in at a shade under 12#. I never notice the recoil shooting at something, but at the range, OOOF! That thing will knock you flat if you aren't leaning into it. I would say to definitely go with the auto.

I have taken some insane shots with it. Squirrels out to 60yds, a common scotter on the Chesapeake at around 50yds. Honestly though with the price of ammo and availability, I picked up a Browning Cynergy Waterfowl that handles 3.5", so the 10 doesn't get used anymore. Just saw a box of Winchester Dryloc steel this afternoon. $35/box.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

I plan on using it as a goose blaster. I also like crow hunting from time to time. Would probably stick to the 12 ga for duck.

Re: Any 10ga shooters out there?

I use to shoot a Ithaca Mag 10. Recoil was not a problem because the gun was so heavy. Two bad shoulders was the problem. I had trouble getting it up especially while duck hunting.

I went with a 3.5" 12. The newer steel ammo and my reloads have been pretty efficient and today I seldom use the 3.5" round.

I always liked the 10 but today I don't feel a need for it.

My ol' man has the BPS. Given the choice between a patterning session with the BPS vs. a Mossy 835, I'd take the BPS every time. The Mossy definitely wallops a lot harder.

That said, the results on the patterning board aren't all that different. The right load out of a 12-gauge will out shoot a 10-gauge with the wrong load all day.

Dad loves to carry it though, and I steal it and take it for a walk every now and then. Just something about a 10-gauge....

Re: Any 10ga shooters out there?

I have read countless articles on this very subject and the 10 wins hands down over the 12 with any load.I will own one someday.I am also a huge fan of the 16 which has also been proven more efficient and superior over a 12.

That is a deal! I don't want another 10 but I would have grabbed that one.
