H&R Sportsman 999?

My Wife just received a 999 .22 break open pistol from her Dad. It appears to be chromed? I looked up the S# and it appears to have been made in 1966. Looks like new. Any info anyone else can add? Thanks, Jeff

That would be in nickel, not chrome. American Handgunner just did an article on a blued one:

H&R 999 Clasic Test

Value will be higher if you have the original box. I'm guessing nickel was rare because a quick search of gunbroker, both current and completed auctions, fails to find any in nickel! I did find an old listing for a nickel one on gunsamerica that went for $595.

Re: H&R Sportsman 999?

The latest blue book calls it a "silver sportsman", and says it's a chrome finish. Made from 1963 to 1966, and lists it a "scarce". values= 100% $450 98% $395 95% $335 and down from there.

I gotta go agitate the techies!
