Why haven't clip fed pump shotguns caught on?

I googled searched it and it looks like there have been some experiments but it doesn't look like anyone produces them. Why not? I am not a fan of tubular magazine as they are a pain to load and unload. There were clip fed bolt action shot guns and clip fed pump rifles but clip fed pump shot guns never caught on for some reason. I would like a clip fed pump shot gun.

Re: Why haven't clip fed pump shotguns caught on?

Could it perhaps be that there is an issue relative to reliability of functioning because of the rimmed hulls of shotgun shells? Also, how would the shucking action of a pump translate into stripping off a shotgun shell from a box magazine? Just asking.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

Look at the saga 12 mags.. 8+ round mags are long as check.. bulky all so an some times feeding issues
The extended lower pipe is most cost effective better balance an most if all more reliable
Less obstruction going in think wooded areas all so...
An I think most states have plug laws for them so kinda of defeats the overall purposes of it if it's max three rounds

Personally I have never found a tubular shotgun magazine to be a pain to load or unload. What's so hard about it?

In most hunting applications, a shotgun is limited to a capacity of three anyhow, so you're not even loading it full.

If the majority of people wanted it, it would exist.

A two round clip would be sufficient, One in the chamber two in the clip. Bolt action shotguns have two round clips.

A clip is just something else to keep track or lose in the woods ,, never had a problem with tubular magazines

I designed a tubular magazine m-16 back in the 60's but since the 30rd tube stuck our 5ft passed the barrel it never caught on.

There are some fancy revolving tube extensions being used by 3 gun competitors. Those guys are hard core and I would think if there was any tactical & reliable advantage in having a magazine fed scatter gun, they would be running it already.
