20 gauge sxs suggestions

I'm looking to possibly by my dad a 20 gauge sxs, he has some sentimental value too them because it's the first type of gun he used for hunting... so I was looking for some suggestions on them definitely want double triggers and would like to keep the cost under $600 if possible but am somewhat flexible.thanks for any help

Re: 20 gauge sxs suggestions

Savage/stevens 311 comes to my mind too...especially if you want double triggers. A used Ithaca/SKB would be a great gun but it has single trigger and is hard ( but not impossible) to find under $700-800.

Oh and I forgot about the CZ's which are double triggers in some models and in your price range. They are very nice guns but for some reason the stocks don't fit me well.

The older I get, the stronger gravity becomes.

Look at the CZ's too while you're on GB.

It looks like a good value to me. It doesn't show chokes but it's probably full/mod. IC/mod would be even better. I had one of these many years ago and really liked the fit and feel. Couldn't get used to the triggers though so a I sold it.

Re: 20 gauge sxs suggestions

It wouldn't used often so choke constriction wouldn't be to critical, the most use it would get is probably in the pheasant fields, thank for the help it is greatly appreciated

Re: 20 gauge sxs suggestions

Try looking at the Stoeger's too. They aren't the prettiest bell at the ball, but they are solid. Never had a problem with any of the ones I have.

I would warn you about the CZ's that you need to pick one up(or appropriately your dad). I didn't notice that they didn't fit me, but I thought they felt a little chincy. I was expecting a lot more out of that kind of price point. My other complaint was the double triggers. If memory serves, you had to get the straight stock to have double triggers and the pistol grip stock had the single selective.

I know I'm cheap, but I just didn't see the need to spend the extra $300-400. I like the Stoegers as a beat-around gun.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

Re: 20 gauge sxs suggestions

I won a CZ Bobwhite a few years back. Pretty good value for the price. No problems with it.

Boom! Boom! Boom!
