I ordered a Ruger Super Redhawk. It just came in and I am pumped to get out to the range with it... That being said, what work have you guys done on them... Any thoughts on improvements?

I will be putting rail and ziess red dot it....

How is yours set up?

I am picking it up on Monday... I will post a pic once I get the rail and red dot on it.

Re: Ordered a Super Redhawk

I've had one for 20+ years. I've done nothing to it, except shoot the heck out of it. I did change the grips to a set of Hogue after several years.

My SRH in .44 Magnum has been wearing a Bushnell 2-6x scope since day #1.

You shouldn't need a rail...Don't the Super RedHawks all have the integral bases and come with rings?

Alrighty then!

Re: Ordered a Super Redhawk

He won't need a rail, but probably prefers using one. I know Weigand makes a rail that mounts to the SRH using the notches. The rail gives you more flexibility in mounting the optic. The flexibility being able to mount the optic further forward or to the rear than if the factory mounts were utilized.

Re: Ordered a Super Redhawk

Good point. I have the SBH Hunter and the notches for the rings are much farther foreward than the ones on your SRH pictured.

Alrighty then!

Re: Ordered a Super Redhawk

The Super Blackhawk Hunter has the scope mounting recesses on the barrel, whereas the Super RedHawk has them on the frame.

Great revolver. I carry mine on bear drives, love it. Wouldn't scope mine because I carry it primarily on drives.

Re: Ordered a Super Redhawk

I have one in 454. Only thing I really did was put in a set of trigger/hammer springs. Smoothest trigger of all of my pistols now. Just put a Burris Fastfire on it, but haven't shot it yet.
