choke question

I want to shoot my smoothbore shotgun with slugs to see what kind of accuracy I can get. my question is it has a modified steel choke in it.is is safe to shoot slugs through a modified steel choke and if so would it shoot better, worse, or the same as a modified lead choke? or is there a better choice than a modified choke?

Re: choke question

A modified steel choke is about the same constriction as a IC lead choke. I have found that slugs usually shoot better out of a more open choke so you should be good with that choke.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Re: choke question

You can buy a screw in choke that will allow you to shoot rifled slugs instead of Foster Slugs..Check out Carlson Chokes or Colonial choke. http://www.choketube.com/ http://www.colonialarms.com/
