New hunting handgun for this season.

I've been hunting with a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum for several years and I've taken several deer with it, but I'm getting back into the T/C Contender game this year.

Going to be hunting with a T/C Contender 14" 7-30 Waters. Just got done working up the loads, just have to wait on a scope.

Top gun is a T/C Contender with a 14" .223 barrel and a Bushnell 2-6x Elite scope. Bottom gun is the 7-30 Waters.

Very nice. I suspect that they are the easy open frames? Coming from experience just make sure your safety is switched all the way to C for center fire, before pulling the trigger on a deer.

Very nice pair of Contenders! I'm a revolver guy myself, but I'm gonna give this Encore a try this year.
It's a Thompson Custom Shop 30-30 Win. with a 16" barrel including the Muzzletamer, and a 2.75X Burris. Haven't shot it yet.

Alrighty then!

Re: New hunting handgun for this season.

Yes, both are easy open frames.

I've been a revolver guy for quite some time, doing most of my hunting with a Super Redhawk.

I had a .22 Hornet barrel for the T/C but no frame. Ex-wife said I must have "lost" it, when we split up. I picked up a stainless frame then added the .223 barrel.

I got good deals on two blued barrels; .22lr and 7-30 Waters. I was originally going to just use them with the stainless steel frame, but then I found a guy selling a blued frame, so I bought it.

I'm looking forward to using the .22 Hornet for fall turkey and the 7-30 Waters for deer this year.

Re: New hunting handgun for this season.

It's a Smith and Wesson Performance Center .460 XVR with a 12" barrel. I've topped it with a Leupold VX-3 Handgun 2.5-8x32mm scope using 3 Warne Rings. Hoping to get range time next week with, really hoping the factory Federal 275 grain Barnes expander bullets shoot well in it!
