20 gauge slug gun

I'm looking into getting a 20 gauge slug gun to primary use as just a slug gun, so interchangeable barrels are not an issue. What is everyone's favorite gun to use? The Rem 870, Mossberg 500, Savage 220? Is a bolt action slug gun much better than a pump?

You can't bag a big one if your not out tryin

Re: 20 gauge slug gun

Savage 220 hands down. most accurate slug gun out there especially at its price point. I get three shots in a 3 inch circle at 100yds using the federal Barnes expanders (discontinued). I have owned the mossberg 500 and a rem 870 with the cantilever scope. neither one can compare to the savage.

not to mention the accutrigger that can be adjusted from 1.5lbs to 6lbs of trigger pull weight and the threaded barrel which the others don't offer. Get the Savage 220f...you won't be sorry.

Mine is very accurate.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

220F alll the way, mine will hold 1"" or less 3 shot groups at 100yds all day long and 2.5 at 200, with 2 3/4 Remington Accurips, my buddy shot a deer last year at 238yrds, she went 50yrds DEAD!!!

Re: 20 gauge slug gun

My favorite is an ENCORE 20 ga... Its the lightest, fastest handling, shortest,, and I can usually put three shots in a one inch group .. Plus its all steel ,,no pot metal here..

Re: 20 gauge slug gun

+1 for the Encore - same results - 3 shots touching all the time and that is with cheap Remington Buckhammer slugs.
