Back to my roots...Penns Creek

No, not that part of Penns Creek.

When I was a kid TagOut and I lived pretty much right along the lower section of Penns Creek near the river, so we would fish it pretty regularly in the summer...almost daily. Well I haven't fished that section of it in about 15 years probably, so today I thought what the heck. I took the 3 weight and some poppers and beetles and decided to see what I could find.

This sunfish was the first victim of the day:

Quickly followed by a lot more of the same size:

I was surprised that I only caught one Rock Bass all day. Either there aren't as many as there used to be or I wasn't fishing in the right spot for them:

After I put on the popper I started catching a few bass:

This Largemouth was a little unexpected, though I've caught them plenty of times they are still a surprise in the creek:

A couple hours into the trip I caught the one I had been hoping for:

I didn't even try to keep track of how many I caught, I lost another one that looked bigger than the big one and one that was about the same size. I will have to make more time to fish for bass and panfish, it was a blast, just like I remembered!!

Catch-and-Release wild trout.

Great pictures. Looks like the second sunfish is a green sunfish?

I love that type of summertime fishing.
