Kettle Creek smallmouth

I was up to camp along Kettle Creek in Potter County from last Thursday through this past Tuesday. I had been catching a lot of trout on the stream through mid-July, and decided to try for some August trout hook-ups, which I have never had due to warm water. But I was seeing trout in the pools, so I gave it a try. I didn't catch any trout, but I did tie into some nice hard-fighting smallmouth -- which are always in the stream, and feeding heavily, in August. So if you want some fun, cast your line to summertime smallmouth on the trout streams. I think the bass migrate upstream from Kettle Creek Dam in the summer.

I've always taken bass up at the fly fishing project -- and also in the Nelson Hole behind, and down-stream of the fire hall in Cross Fork. If you're gonna try it, go to those spots!

I think bass just turn it on when it is warmer. The same can be said of Pine Creek. The bass are always in there but they just bite better when it i warmer.

You canít get them if you ainít in the woods!!
