Pheasant and Grouse tail feathers...

Anyone use pheasant tail feathers or feathers from grouse fans for flies? Have some of both just don't know if I should just throw them out or if anyone would want them.

Any fly tying material like that is appreciated . If I were closer I would trade for it . How about bowmike ? You can tie plenty of pheasant tail nymphs out of one tail feather . Thanks for the offer....Finn

Enjoy each day afield as if it were your last.....take the time to take it all in !

Re: Pheasant and Grouse tail feathers...

I just stocked up on pheasant tails, and have a a grouse fan a buddy gave me. The grouse feathers make nice leg immitations on caddis fly larva and rock work immitations. They can be used just like a pheasant tail nymph but are a little thin an lack the length needed for any fly above size 12 IMO.

Sorry I have been a bit MIA in this forum. I caught the bird flu and have had turkeys on my mind.

I would be willing to take some of each and pay for shipping. Just getting started fly tying.
