Any rod builder on here?

So I was searching g the net looking to see if I could replace a broken tip to my favorite fly rod. I decided to try my hand at building a new rod. The net is full of places to buy parts and tools. Does anyone know of any local places to buy rod building supplies? I am looking semi close. Harrisburg to Williamsport over to state college. If not any recommendation for places to buy online?

Re: Any rod builder on here?

Last time I looked Hilles in South williamsport had rod building supplies. From Williamsport cross the river into South Williamsport. Where route 15 takes a left turn towards the Little league fields , go straight and it is on your left.

My favorite dry fly rod is a 3 wt my brother built for me as a college graduation gift. It's an Elkhorn...not sure if they are still around but might be worth checking out.

Re: Any rod builder on here?

How can I help you? I'm a rod builder and have been for years.
As for The old Hille's store, sorry but they closed up after they moved. I think they had a fire and lost some materials and then closed their doors after that. Unless they re-opened and I didn't hear about it.
PM me and tell me what your looking for and I can steer you in the right direction.

Right now I am just getting started. I hoped to find a place I could go in and touch feel the stuff before I buy. Always like to see things In person before I buy
Right now I am planning on building 3 fly Rods with my son one for him and one for me and a Christmas gift for my dad.
I have enough of oak scraps from my reloading table I just build so I am building a rod wrapper out of them

I am looking for rod blanks that is the hard part for me search the net and there are so many avalible I do not need to buy top of the line sage blanks. But I do not want to waste my time on el cheapo junk blanks. Any suggestions ?
