Anybody fishing Oil Creek?

I just purchased a camp within 45 minutes or so of oil creek. I heard they get some really nice hatches this time of year, and was wondering if anybody frequents the stream could give me an idea as of what kind of bugs are coming off. Probably hit the DHALO sections since it's new to me and those areas have been good to me on other creeks. I'm also open to any other suggestions for streams in the Warren, Forest, Mckean, Venago areas that see nice hatches. My camp is around 14 miles from Sheffield.

Re: Anybody fishing Oil Creek?

Grannoms were on last week. Oil gets some of the best hatches of streams in that area. The creek does get quite warm in the summer and it is a good smallie stream as well.

Goin in early and stayin late.

Re: Anybody fishing Oil Creek?

I fish Oil on a regular basis. Grannoms are in full swing right now. Everyday is different. Usually always bugs in the air, sometimes you may see risers all day long, other days you may see none. The entire creek fishes well, drakes well down to petroleum center is probably the best fishing. Get a map of the creek and go have fun. If you go withinthe next week, make sure you have dark dun bh caddis pupa in 14 and 16, it will save the day if nothing is happening on top.
