knots

new to fly fishing had one on the other day and my line came apart where the leader is tied on to the tippet. I was using a tapered tippet and 3x leader. Is there a special knot to tie so this doesn't happen again?

Re: knots

I use a loop to loop from leader to tippet

I tie two perfection loops one on the leader one on the tippet and pass the loops thru each other to form a basic square knot

Re: knots

I use a blood knot for all leader sections including the tippet. Not the fastestknot, but it doesn't take too long after tying it for a few decades.

Re: knots

Tippet will last for a while but do not keep it in the heat or direct sun mono will go bad after some time Last year was using some tippet from the year before and kept breaking, pulled some out gave it a small tug and it snapped. Next day bought new and have t had the issue. With fluorocarbon you don't have that problem but it doesn't float very well
