Amazing brookies on one of my favorite blue lines.

I took my yearly pilgrimage to one of my favorite blue lines on Sunday. I tied up some of my go to streamer pattern, and some cream mops for the trip. The walk in to this stream is rather extreme. The treacherous walk in combined with rattle snakes in the warmer months lead to me only visiting once a year. But to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way. Sure, I would love to catch these guys every day, but to me I'd rather not put that kind of pressure on these guys. Words can't really tell the story of these fish and location as well as the pictures do so here are a few shots from the trip.

Purdy fish and purdy country.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Nice!

It seems like the most brightly-colored brookies are way up in the headwaters.

What streamer pattern is that? It looks good.

Its just a simple bugger-ish pattern i use.

hook: size 10 firehole outdoors 633. (standard size 10 streamer hook should work
eyes: size medium-large chartrues and white double pupil lead eyes
thread: 140 danville chartreuse
tail: white marabou
body: white estaz (you can you crystal chenille as well)

I like to tie these up with 3-4 different sized eyes. If you are fishing faster water the large or medium may be needed to get down to where you need to be. The xsmall and small work great on slower water with less elevation drops.

hope this helps. That pattern is also down right deadly on panfish.
