Weikert Area

The boy and I are taking Friday off to fish the Weikert area...special regs I think.

Anyway, any info on possible hatches would be appreciated...

Thanks!

I prefer my kid hunt and fish rather than steal and deal,

Penns Creek Angler always has up to date info on what is hatching and what flies are working there.

It's been warmer so consider checking the water temps down that low. Cool down coming and the high water ought to be cooler too. I would expect BWO(big ones...size14), slate drakes, cahills. Slates and BWO can be late morning and through the day.. if you're looking to fish on top, a slate dun with a BWO soft hackle dropped would be a good bet. Underneath I would run an olive soft hackle all day. Cahills closer to dark. Enjoy the bug factory.

It's a good spot. Just not today.

Hope you did well.

Couple cool nights, on Friday morning the water around cherry run was 59. Impressive. Nice chalky green color.

Did you fall in? Lol. Lower Penns is slippy. I get myself in trouble a lot on penns and get wet.

..and the fish can be very finicky. A lot for them to choose from.
