Fisherman's Paradise

I'm a project manager for an HVAC company and I'm working on a project at the HR Stackhouse building at Fishermen's Paradise. I was there on Thursday morning amidst snow squalls and temperatures in the upper 20's and was shocked how many people were fishing there! Not only due to the weather but the fact it's a Thursday morning in the middle of March! I normally keep the fly rod, vest and chest waders in my truck and was very tempted to just take a 30 minute break and just fly fish but I had to rush to the next project in Indiana County. Oh to be independently wealthy and not have to worry about mundane things like work.....

If Plan A is:

Oh to be independently wealthy and not have to worry about mundane things like work.....

I used to teach Game Law at Stackhouse for the new WCO trainee classes. Stackhouse i the Fish and Boat Commission's training school, for those who don't know. There are always people fishing there. I fished there a couple of times when I was there, the fishing is also difficult, you can see the trout but getting a strike is not easy. Those fish see so many flies in a weeks time they are very finicky.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

I am 51, my original plan was to retire at 55 but that was before my IRA evaporated in 2008. Now I'm just hoping to live to see retirement.

But, I vow to sneak out a couple of casts on my next trip there. Shhh, don't tell the bosses! (Wife and work boss)

I suffered from that delusion for a while as well. But then my son was born when I was 44 and life jumped up and kicked me in the teeth. Now my retirement plan is to quit the day I mail in his final college tuition check...and that will put me at around 66....

I will be in that area for a few days this coming week. I plan to take a few hours off and fish. I have never fished Spring Creek and am very excited to finally get to. Im pretty sure Ill be avoiding Paradise but Ill have to at least stop and check it out.
