Soft Hackle Nymphs

First time playing around with some Hungarian partridge. Didn't turn out too bad. The green ones I got from another forum, the other is the Bird Of Prey.

I usually go sparse with the soft hackle but those look good. They will certainly fish. I seem to put soft hackle of some sort on most of my nymphs. I use partridge, starling, grouse, and chicken for soft hackle.

Here are some BHPT's I did recently.

Looks great . Where did you end up finding the Hungarian Partridge ? I have been tying emergers these past few weeks as well . The season is coming before we know it !

The season never ends. With the weather we have been having, I keep fishing. 12/23/16 was my best day of the year. Fished for 3 hours and brought 45 fish to hand.

Nymphing, streamers, and swinging some wets. It was 44* if I remember correctly and midges were coming off. It was the best day I ever had. Still have had some 10-20 fish days from November through January. The worst day I had was a 2 fish day but that was some really high water. I have been fishing 2-4 days a month and those usually dont coincide with the nice weather. Give winter fishing a shot either on some wild trout streams or target streams that are open year round. Its lots of fun. I will be out this Friday most likely on the Yellow Breeches to do some exploring.

The black and blue was as close as I could get to the State Trooper Weaver PT that you tied a few weeks back. I forgot I tied that. I am going to see how it works tomorrow.

I bought a few bags of loose feathers, Hareline Hungarian Partridge. BIG MISTAKE! Out of them two bags I only made 24 flies. The rest was junk but I kept it anyways. I did get the whole bird from Cabelas.

I made the same mistake earlier this year. It's the last time I will ever buy a bag of loose partridge feathers.
