allen volant 10wt

anyone own one of these? my son just bought one for musky. we got it all set up. went to yard to practice and the rod snapped 1/3 way down about 2 in above the furrel on his 3rd cast.
i was standing right there. it never caught on anything. They are sending him a new rod but it wont be here before our trip in 2 days.
its a $330 rod he has been saving for all summer.

Now your diggin' where the 'tators are!

Re: allen volant 10wt

Never heard of the brand...
Bummer for your son - does not exactly instill confidence in da stick...

Perhaps it was stressed/cracked during shipment - who knows!!

I guess time will tell ..

Enjoy the trip.

Re: allen volant 10wt

One of the best all around 10wt rods ever made IMO for musky, stripped bass, small tarpon, etc is an Orvis Boron and Graphite 10wt..9ft
.Made in the 1980s.I still have mine and appreciate itmore and more each time I use it.Try and find one of these on ebay or wherever..you will not be disappointed

Re: allen volant 10wt

I would let Allen know the exact situation you are seeing, and that your boy had high hopes of using this rod on the trip. They are really good people and pretty understanding. I would imagine they would feel for you and your son and maybe hook him up.

I have used their stuff for a long time with few issues.

Re: allen volant 10wt

he finally got a replacement from them. they told him the day after it happened they would get a replacement right out. (nothing they could do to get him oe before his trip) After it didnt come in a week he called on tues. The guy said it should be there friday. After looking at the shipping that is because they sent it 3 day shipping after he called to ask about it again. They were very apologetic and polite but for the price of these rods and slow service thats small consolation. he hasnt had a chance to get out with it yet. hope this one makes it more than 3 casts.
