Marabou ?'s for the old timers (I'm one too LOL)

So 40 yrs ago when I tied I was under the impression Marabou feathers came from the stork, now I see Cabela's "brand" says they are from turkey. Was I wrong 40 yrs back? if not do the turkey ones have similar "action"? I want to add some to some bass jigs I'm making and want that "breathing action" - Thanks

I've tied flies for about 40 years also. I think the marabou was from turkeys back then also, but I'm not sure about that.

In any case, the turkey marabou commonly available from flyfishing suppliers works very well.

OK thanks .... I Googled it after I posted the ? and a site from the GOV. came up with pictures of both. Pretty sure the ones I used to get from Herter's were real.. not turkey. But it seems that real ones are covered by CITES now so turkey it is.

Back then I thought they told us that babies came from a stork. I never heard that storks delivered marabou feathers. Guess I need to ask my wife.
