Fluorocarbon Tiipet Material

Question from a newbie. Can flourocarbon tippet line be used to make a leader ? Or should it be used only for tippet material.

sure you could but why spend the extra money unless you are trying to deep nymph. floro line sinks so you should not use it for dry fly fishing.

Re: Fluorocarbon Tiipet Material

Fluorocarbon is definitely the way to go when nymphing... I started using it this year and won't go back to standard mono. You can't see it underwater nearly as much as you can with monofilament and it doesn't seem to curl or loop like mono does.

Re: Fluorocarbon Tiipet Material

if they havent seen it thousands of times and been caught on or hit it there gonna hit it with ether mono or floro. think of it this way, a pro flyfisherman cast perfectly, perfect everything, etc. but the fish wont hit because he has hit this fly before and been caught before and he dosent intend to hit it again. next day a fly fishing newbie with some cheap mono tied on and a fly which the fish hasnt been pressured with over and over and bam fish on first cast.

any tippet will work, the fly on the end of the line is what comes first for me. the day I find that the trout wont hit anything I offer it I will probably change my mind and think more about tippet and such.
