Your ankles will ache like no other with bootfoots if you plan to do any amount of walking. Unless you plan on standing in the same bootprints all day in frigid weather, I would never recommend bootfoot waders.
Besides, with quality socks there isn't much of a sacrifice in the warmth category. It is a very minor price to pay for getting ankle support.
i use bootie waders with seperate boots. the reason why i use this instead of the waders with boots attached is that with the ones with the boots attached, if the boot or wader part wears out, the whole wader is useless. but if i use a stocking foot and buy boots seperate, if one wears out, all i have to do is replace that part.
Just spent the last five hours in the Tully. I had my boot foot waders with 1000 grams of thinsulate in them. My hands were cold, my feet were nice and warm! I know if I would have worn my other pair of waders that require separate boots, my feet would have been cold as heck!
