Pros / Cons Booted or Bootie Waders ?

What are the benifits of a bootie wader that you use a boot with verses a wader with a boot attached ?

I own and use both types of waders.

PRO:
Bootfoot waders are warmer if you fish the winter. MUCH WARMER.

CON:
Bootfoot waders do not provide the ankle support you need when climbing stream banks and trails. Heavier on the feet if you hike a good distance.

Also winter fishing related.....Your boot lace knot can freeze making it tough to get out of your waders at days end. That won't happen with boot foot waders.

Your ankles will ache like no other with bootfoots if you plan to do any amount of walking. Unless you plan on standing in the same bootprints all day in frigid weather, I would never recommend bootfoot waders.

Besides, with quality socks there isn't much of a sacrifice in the warmth category. It is a very minor price to pay for getting ankle support.

I own both as well. Boot foot waders offer an air space to help keep feet warm.

But in the summer time, I prefer a wader that has separate boots for walking comfort. Warmth is not an issue then. Besides walking further distances, these waders also offer better stability.

i use bootie waders with seperate boots. the reason why i use this instead of the waders with boots attached is that with the ones with the boots attached, if the boot or wader part wears out, the whole wader is useless. but if i use a stocking foot and buy boots seperate, if one wears out, all i have to do is replace that part.

Re: Pros / Cons Booted or Bootie Waders ?

Just spent the last five hours in the Tully. I had my boot foot waders with 1000 grams of thinsulate in them. My hands were cold, my feet were nice and warm! I know if I would have worn my other pair of waders that require separate boots, my feet would have been cold as heck!
